There are two from Lincoln who could saddle up pretty quickly and would love to give it a run: Carla Bender, current Logan Co. Circuit Clerk, and Jonathan Wright, failed U.S. Senate candidate and current private school principal. Who else?

   Are we potentially seeing a crop of downstate Republicans all rising up to face the governor? It seems to me the old regionalistic dislike for Chicago is definitely in play here.

   And I can guarantee you that Poe wouldn’t try to move the state government from Springfield.
