· What he said.

· The head of a Chicago public relations firm highlighted in a scathing state audit called the report “a blatant lie” that grossly inflated undocumented billings by her firm to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

· Sun-Times hits IDOT on audit.

· Pantagraph raps Blagojevich for pharmacy signs.

· Sen. Ira Silverstein (D-Chicago): “I don’t think [Gov. Blagojevich] is going to sail to victory. I think it is going to be a very tight election. It depends on what happens in the next couple of months, if the Feds do any type of investigation of his administration.”

· “Chicago police officers were on hand as a huge street fight spilled into City Hall Wednesday afternoon.” Didn’t look like much of a fight to me.

· Yet another breathless lede.

· Son says Stroger is talking, exercising

· What the heck is going on in Kane County?

· Businesses called on to lobby for train line

· Lawmakers may rename beach to honor Geo-Karis

· Calumet City: “Tear down this wall!”

    rich,
it is interesting that no one has mentioned that the head of danielle ashley advertising is also the head of PR for the house of hope (Meeks). Is this why her contract was double by IDOT in the last year?

  2. - Realist - Thursday, Mar 30, 06 @ 8:17 am:

Off-topic, but Cook County finally finished counting the ballots from the primary. It only took them EIGHT DAYS! Well, at least we’re faster than Florida. In case anyone’s interested, the final numbers were:

    Cook County:
    Stroger 53.5%
    Claypool 46.5%

    Statewide:
    Blagojevich 71%
    Eisendrath 29%

    Topinka 38%
    Oberweis 32%
    Brady 18%
    Gidwitz 11%

Stroger’s stroke apparently had very little, if any effect. Oberweis probably would have won if Brady had dropped out but maybe not if both Brady and Gidwitz had dropped out. And Eisendrath fell short of 30%, as he also did 15 years ago in his Congressional race against Sidney Yates. So 30% is now the “Eisendrath Line” in Illinois politics.

Rich, I agree about blogs deserving attribution. No one’s mentioned that TV stations have been doing this for decades.

  4. - SangamoGoP - Thursday, Mar 30, 06 @ 12:30 pm:

Silverstein said: “It depends on what happens in the next couple of months, if the Feds do any type of investigation of his administration.” Where has the good senator been for the last few months? “IF the Feds do any type of investigation…” They have so many going right now, we’ve lost count…

  5. - Anonymous - Thursday, Mar 30, 06 @ 7:06 pm:

Kane County is a lost cause.

  6. - db - Thursday, Mar 30, 06 @ 8:13 pm:

Maybe the auditor general should take a closer look at one of the consultants for IDOT that has a fraud conviction for some work done at CPS during Sec. Martin’s tenure there.
