Friday fun: I wonder if this idea spreads…
Friday, Nov 3, 2006 - Posted by Rich Miller This is a sample ballot distributed by Democratic candidate for Cook County Board Jim Dasakis. Other than the misspelling of one candidate’s name and the rudimentary design, do you notice anything odd? Click for a larger image.

where is rod’s name?
- Anonymoose - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 6:50 am:
Yeah, where is Rod, he whom was endorsed by the Sun Times?
- Shallow Pharnyx - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 7:00 am:
Smart move on his part. Also, “representative” should be plural.
- Justice - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 7:04 am:
Improve your odds by staying away from Blogo. Smart move!!
- Snark - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 7:13 am:
Well, if you vote for both Bean and Duckworth you’re going to end up in the pokey.
- SangamoGOP - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 7:15 am:
who paid for the piece? is this just Mr. Dasakis’ mailer or are there other Cook candidates with the exact piece with their smiling face and no mention of Hot Rod? This is old style politics. I’m sure there are palm cards in numerous wards with all the Dem candidates except for Topinka in for Gov.
- Levois - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 7:26 am:
Hey Pat Quinn is #1 and he isn’t even running for governor. In fact where is the governor?
Oh yeah I just had to roll my eyes at Todd Stroger being “independent minded”.
- Louis G. Atsaves - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 7:33 am:
What, no Dan Hynes?
- Michelle - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 7:41 am:
Hello—Pol Sci 101—in the general you only vote for one punch for Gov/Lt Gov - so number one is for both. You only vote for each office in primary.
- Xolotl - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 8:15 am:
They spelled Mike Noland’s name wrong, they have it as “Nolan.” Hope they didn’t forget the union bug, might tick off a few hardliner Ds.
- Walking Wounded - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 8:19 am:
Maybe he didn’t include Blagojevich because, as he felt he wouldn’t be able to hold him accountable for his actions? Finally, truth in advertising.
Interesting though, how could he overlook Dan Hynes?
- Sarge - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 8:25 am:
How many more sample ballots will Blago be left off?
- Wumpus - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 8:38 am:
WHy is pat quinn number 1? Mr. Hot Dog Stand/placeholder for a Hansen victory (oops) is the best that the SAD Schaumburg Area Dems have to offer? Well, the 15th does encompass parts of the 8th and 6th.
- Niles Township - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 8:40 am:
A man ahead of his time…whoever this is. We will all be calling Pat Quinn governor soon enough!
- a friend - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 8:54 am:
jim who??? the blago folks better get on this one really quick!
- not on the clout list - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 9:01 am:
Why did he use an old picture of Ray Frias??
- Shelbyville - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 9:08 am:
“It is time that we, as elected representative”
It needs to be either “representatives” or “as an elected representative.”
- Illinois is #1 - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 9:09 am:
Haha! I love it! No Rod! GOOOOO JUDY!!!!
- Squideshi - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 9:29 am:
Where’s Bill? Where’s Blago Bill?
- anon - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 9:33 am:
If this really was the endorsed Democratic slate, this blog and election wouldn’t have been nearly as much fun as it has been the last few months.
- Jake's Chicago Politics - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 10:56 am:
Wow I am not surprised. That is hilarious. tTough for Blagojevich.
- DeepFriedOnAStick - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 11:21 am:
Same difference - a vote for Quinn is a vote for Blago.
- winco - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 11:26 am:
Lee Co. Republicans left Hastert off their candidate list.
- Hound Dog - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 11:28 am:
Wow! Rod’s been indicted already!
- Little Egypt - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 11:29 am:
Tough for Blago but unfortunately, voting for Quinn #1 will still get your Elvis for governor.
- jerry - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 1:00 pm:
hmm…didn’t the Tribune endorse Topinka? Did the Tribune even endorse Quinn? (and I did note the no Blago thing…I’m voting for Quinn).
Regarding Hynes…He claims that all these candidates were endorsed by Trib/ST/Herald/Pioneer…Did one or more of them endorse Hynes opponent/punt on the race?
Is he really Alexander? I thought he was Alexi?
eh.
And the union bug is right below the return address. He didn’t use a non-union shop.
- Tessa - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 7:33 pm:
winco -
Didn’t you hear? Lee County Republicans said they couldn’t put Hastert on there. It’s against the law. At least that’s what the front page of the paper said the other night.
- winco - Friday, Nov 3, 06 @ 10:14 pm:
Thanks Tessa, hadn’t seen that. Interesting.
