* 9:17 pm- I have shot a ton of video that will be coming your way shortly. Most of it has to do with the temp budget, but subjects vary and include the Burr Oaks fallout and ethics reform…

* 9:23 pm - Governor Quinn got a little heated when asked about Burr Oaks, Comptroller Hynes, and criticisms that the Governor has not pushed hard enough for strong regulatory legislation over cemeteries. Watch…

* 9:26 pm - Sen President Cullerton did not want to discuss the temp budget at first, but he gets sucked into a short conversation about the temp budget and the FY 2011 budget hole…

* 9:30 pm - Leader Radogno does not think it is possible to really predict the size of next years budget hole right now, but it won’t be pretty…

* 9:30 pm - Leader Radogno is happy that the a tax hike was not included in the temp budget and continues to push ethics and fiscal reforms…

* 9:33 pm - Sen Harmon discusses the progress on ethics reforms…

* 9:35 pm - I will be posting the rest of the Quinn Presser in its raw form. However, it is 3 videos and each video is about 8 minutes long. The internet is running a little slow at the capitol so it might take a while, but they will be up soon and that will conclude the videos. Thanks for your patience…

Sorry - Rich added a new post:

melissahahn: Gov. Quinn says he’ll sign the budget bills as soon as he gets them (good news). Then it’ll be time to decide layoffs (bad news).

  2. - Linus - Wednesday, Jul 15, 09 @ 9:42 pm:

President Cullerton is one of the few true leaders to emerge from this crummy session. I hope his steady, practical, democratic-with-a-small-d style catches on in Springfield. And he’s got a good bunch behind him in his caucus.

  3. - Anonymous Coward - Wednesday, Jul 15, 09 @ 9:44 pm:

melissahahn Quinn just signed the budget bill that will allow payroll, so state workers will get hard copy checks tomorrow (Thursday).

G-Rod responds “Why didn’t I ever get multi billion dollar lump sum lines appropriated directly to my office?”

  5. - Wow - Wednesday, Jul 15, 09 @ 9:54 pm:

    Budget bills were just signed.

  6. - Shore - Wednesday, Jul 15, 09 @ 9:57 pm:

Richard Martin Scorsese Miller. That is all.

  7. - Stoned Prophet - Wednesday, Jul 15, 09 @ 10:32 pm:

At around 2:41 of the second video, Quinn says how layoffs can be negotiated with AFSCME et al. He said that furlough days and no contractual pay raises can prevent layoffs.

In the dated words of Linda Richman:
    Talk amongst yourselves.

  8. - Stoned Prophet - Wednesday, Jul 15, 09 @ 10:39 pm:

    I’m sorry, one more thing:

Should the Union conduct a poll with its members to decide which of the cuts to negotiate or should it act like parents and do what it thinks is right for us whether we like it or not? I want to see what voice the rank and file members have in all of this.

  9. - Anon - Wednesday, Jul 15, 09 @ 10:48 pm:

    Dunns got cut

  10. - wordslinger - Wednesday, Jul 15, 09 @ 11:11 pm:

You’ll be doing it all again, sooner rather than later.

  11. - Yes - Wednesday, Jul 15, 09 @ 11:37 pm:

    Dunns should be cut.

  12. - Smitty Irving - Wednesday, Jul 15, 09 @ 11:48 pm:

This statement is made without access to Public Acts on ilga.gov, just access to amendments that “delete and replace,” but it seems Public Acts 96-0044 and 96-0045 transfer identical amounts from special funds to GRF. Anyone else read this? Anyone access to the Public Acts.

  13. - Smitty Irving - Thursday, Jul 16, 09 @ 12:02 am:

Followup - many non GRF budgets are contained in HB 2206. For example, the Fire Marshal. As of midnight, it had not been signed, and no news notices about it being signed. Anyone else have any news?

  14. - Bobs yer - Thursday, Jul 16, 09 @ 7:04 am:

I just don’t understand how its more politically acceptable to have the next round of budget fighting right before the primary. What’s going to change?

  15. - wordslinger - Thursday, Jul 16, 09 @ 7:19 am:

Bobs Yer, everybody will know if they have a primary opponent or not.

  16. - Oakparker - Thursday, Jul 16, 09 @ 8:02 am:

If they wait until January to work on revenue, does this mean that they will not need any Republican votes?

  17. - No - Thursday, Jul 16, 09 @ 8:10 am:

    Dunns shouldn’t have been cut.

  18. - 332bill - Thursday, Jul 16, 09 @ 9:13 am:

Smitty, SB1912 has the funds sweeps particulars. In light of the Burr Oak problem, it is interesting to note that the GA is sweeping $658,000 from the Cemetery Consumer Protection Fund.
