  1. - Joe Schmoe - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 11:47 am:

Jimmy Stewart. Need I say more?

  2. - Ozzie - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 11:47 am:

Richard Dreyfuss. Looks are similar and can really play the overexcited role.

  3. - Dead Head - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 11:47 am:

Easy - Gene Hackman - because they look a lot a like and Gene Hackman has always done a good job of playing old white politicians.

  4. - Joe Schmoe - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 11:48 am:

Maybe I do need to say more. Just think of “It’s A Wonderful Life.” Best portayal of “how to balance the books” that I have ever seen.

  5. - 47th Ward - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 11:50 am:

The late Peter Sellars in a cross between his signature characters Inspector Clouseau and Chauncy Gardinier.

  6. - Andrew - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 11:54 am:

I’ve been telling my friends for months THIS guy should…sounds like him, looks like him, etc.

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0231283/

Character actor John Doman. Perfect for the role.

  7. - Speaking at Will - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 11:56 am:

    Samuel L. Jackson.

    Too easy….”Flipper”

  9. - bill washerton - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:02 pm:

    Larry Harmon

  10. - Jake from Elwood - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:04 pm:

C’mon, not even Ari Gold could sell this dog of a screenplay.
But to play along. . .I like Dreyfuss also because he has that nasally whine down to a science.

  11. - wordslinger - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:06 pm:

    Flip Wilson.

  12. - Beowulf - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:12 pm:

Soupy Sales if he is still alive. Otherwise, another slap-stick comedian like Chevy Chase might do. Someone who can turn around his position around immediately as if “turning on a dime” while standing still and looking like they deserve to get hit in the face with a pie.

  13. - Bill - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:13 pm:

    Pee Wee Herman

  14. - Leroy - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:16 pm:

“The Pat Quinn Story” starring Rod Blagojevich as Pat Quinn.

  15. - Anon - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:17 pm:

Robin Williams is the only one who can switch subjects fast enough.

  16. - shore - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:20 pm:

I’m with ozzie, dreyfuss was the first name in my head.

  17. - Obamarama - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:23 pm:

Larry David. Similar hair, quirky as can be.

  18. - Michelle Flaherty - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:25 pm:

    Jon Lovitz
After all, it would be a comedy

  19. - A Naughty Moose - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:26 pm:

    Bob Bell, RIP

  20. - VanillaMan - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:27 pm:

    Philip Seymour Hoffman

Physically, they are similar. Hoffman’s Academy Award for playing Truman Capote demonstrates this actor’s ability to portrait Quinn as decision maker.

  21. - Chubs Mahoney - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:30 pm:

    John Lithgow

  22. - phocion - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:31 pm:

Steve Buscemi. They’ve got similar eyes.

  23. - soccermom - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:32 pm:

    Alexander Skarsgaard

  24. - Ghost - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:33 pm:

    Matt Frewer!

  25. - Responsa - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:33 pm:

He’s dead, but Peter Lorre comes to mind. He had that same kinda quirky sideways shify eye thing that the governor has going on when he speaks.

  26. - Dooley Dudright - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:37 pm:

Base it on a “Happy Days” script. Ron Howard as PQ.

And why Howard? Because of the same progression through life: both starting out just like Richie Cunningham, dontcha know.

(Then again — Howard became a successful director, and Quinn……well………)

Oh, and with Henry Winkler as “Fonz” Madigan. AAAAAAAY!

  27. - Shore - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:54 pm:

lithgow is a better call, richard schiff would have to be Rich Miller.

  28. - Michelle Flaherty - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 12:55 pm:

Ron Jeremy would be a better Rich Miller

  29. - Anon - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:06 pm:

If he were alive, Peter Boyle.

  30. - Anonymous - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:11 pm:

    Andy Kaufman.

  31. - zeke - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:11 pm:

If it’s an animated film, they should just draw him as Shrek. They’ve got the same head, absent the horns. And Blago could be the jackass Shrek pals around with.

Or do you think some talented artist could draw a talking waffle?

  32. - Wumpus - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:15 pm:

Billy Baldwin or Will Smith. I don’t know why

  33. - ahoy - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:16 pm:

Christopher Lloyd and I would make it into a Mocumentary.

Leslie Nielsen if you want to go over the top.

  34. - Anonymous45 - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:20 pm:

    William Duvall…bald, bright, similar voices…

  35. - Bill S. Preston, Esq. - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:28 pm:

    Christopher Lloyd. Definitely.

  36. - anon - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:32 pm:

    Nicholas Cage…

  37. - Just sayin - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:41 pm:

Someone said Gene Hackman. Good choice.

Robert Duvall came first to my mind.

And no Pat, sorry, George Clooney just wouldn’t be right. Get over yourself.

  38. - Mike Ward - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:44 pm:

I’m not sure. How about that tall, balding guy who has trouble making up his mind?

  41. - North of I-80 - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 1:57 pm:

Rodney Dangerfield - Pat could learn from him

  42. - Ghost - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 2:09 pm:

=== richard schiff would have to be Rich Miller ===

Nah, have Mike Murray play Rich.

  43. - Louis G. Atsaves - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 2:11 pm:

The actor who plays Sheriff Andy Belfour of Bon Temps, LA in the HBO Show “True Blood.”

Means well, tries to do the right thing, but always manages somehow to mess up!

  44. - Cheswick - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 2:25 pm:

    Fred Thompson for his looks.

  45. - wordslinger - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 3:00 pm:

==And why Howard? Because of the same progression through life: both starting out just like Richie Cunningham, dontcha know.–

    Sacrilege.

Ron Howard started out as Opie Taylor. As Dep. Fife would say, these kinds of untruths, you have to nip ‘em in the bud. Nip it, nip it, nip it!

  46. - Michelle Flaherty - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 3:13 pm:

Ghost, have you seen Murray lately. Rich wishes. Looks like an Amish bodybuilder.

  47. - Okay then... - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 3:19 pm:

Whoever the guy is on the Royal Pawn Shop & Loan (on south clark street in the loop) commercials sounds just like Pat Quinn. That nassaled Chicago accent—yuk! While the Royal Pawn Shop guy doesn’t quite look Quinn, as he is younger and bulkier, with makeup etc. he could be a dead ringer.

“Why send your old gold away? Why not just come here and get cash?”

  48. - Coach Lou Holtz - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 3:24 pm:

    Option 1:
Christopher Lloyd (as in Back to the Future)

    Option 2:
    Rodney Dangerfield

  50. - Daniel - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 3:55 pm:

    Carrot Top.

  51. - Arthur Andersen - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 3:59 pm:

    Bozo the Clown.

  52. - Okay then... - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 4:00 pm:

Carrot Top? That’s a good one. I was kinda thinking Krusty the Clown (animated TV character and not a real actor, I know). But, I like the Carrot Top suggestion.

  53. - Louis Howe - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 4:10 pm:

Perhaps Steve Martin….I especailly liked his role is “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”…

  54. - Laura - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 4:22 pm:

Christopher Guest… he’s versatile, comedic and not too far off in looks.

  55. - dupage progressive - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 4:31 pm:

my first thought was also Richard Dreyfuss, but maybe he is missing the height needed to play Quinn. I also like the gene hackman (maybe not goofy enough?), christopher lloyd, fred thompson, steve martin suggestions too.

What about Jim Belushi (with some hair fixes)? He would have an easier time with the chicago dialect…

  56. - JoJo - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 4:44 pm:

Vic Tayback from that old television show “Alice”.

  57. - Suburban Republican - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 5:31 pm:

    Christopher Lloyd as Patrick Quinn

    Co starring:
    Steve Carrell as Rod Blagojevich
    Talia Shire as Patti Blagojevich
    Sherman Hemsley as Roland Burris

    Cameo appearances by:

Horatio Sanz as New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson
Steven R. Schirripa as future New Jersey Governor Chris Christie

  58. - Name/Nickname/Anon - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 6:40 pm:

    Max Gail from Barney Miller

  59. - Amalia - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 7:33 pm:

let’s go hometown and it’s J Piven. because from his portrayal of
Ari Gold we know he can do seething rage below a surface and clowning around.

  60. - You Go Boy - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 8:09 pm:

Due to height problem, R. Dreyfuss on the shoulders of Piven.

  61. - ahem - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 8:13 pm:

    David Ogden Stiers from M*A*S*H.

  62. - Grace's Mom - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 9:26 pm:

Randy Quaid or Daniel Stern, I think they could pull off the similiar looks.

  63. - Jack - Athens - Monday, Aug 31, 09 @ 11:27 pm:

Homer Simpson… they have the same hair style and rather dumb look on their face. Homer would give his famous “Doah…” everytime the legislature didn’t go along with his plans. The only problem is that Homer actually lives in Springfield while the Governor just pretends to live there.

  64. - Bill Clinton - Tuesday, Sep 1, 09 @ 9:11 am:

Dustin Hoffman of course, he can play over the top better than anybody else….

  65. - QT - Tuesday, Sep 1, 09 @ 9:21 am:

    Quentin Tarrantino.

  66. - bill - Tuesday, Sep 1, 09 @ 10:05 pm:

    Moe Howard. He’s a joke

  67. - bill - Tuesday, Sep 1, 09 @ 10:06 pm:
